How AOT UV Photocatalytic Disinfection Equipment Works？

The system uses a dual-band UV lamp (185nm + 253.7nm) to irradiate a nano-titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating inside the reaction chamber. This triggers a photocatalytic reaction that generates hydroxyl radicals (·OH) — oxidizing agents with 2.85V oxidation potential, significantly stronger than chlorine (1.36V) or ozone (2.07V).

These hydroxyl radicals:

Disrupt and destroy cell membranes of bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms within seconds. Decompose organic compounds, chloramines, pesticide residues, and pharmaceutical contaminants. Completely mineralize target substances into CO2 and H2O — no toxic by-products, no secondary contamination. Inactivate chlorine-resistant organisms including Legionella pneumophila, Cryptosporidium, and Giardia that standard UV or chlorination may not fully eliminate.

The hydroxyl radical has a very short lifespan (seconds) and limited travel distance. This is why our systems use a small-diameter, multi-channel design — maximizing contact between the generated radicals and passing water volume to ensure complete treatment within the reaction chamber.
